WASHINGTON — Two District of Columbia men have been sentenced for their roles in the fatal shooting of a Metrobus rider last year.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 24-year-old Delron Atchison was sentenced to 30 years in prison Friday, and 22-year-old Vincent Gray was sentenced to 21 years.
Both men had previously pleaded guilty to their involvement in the shooting in which 22-year-old Demetrius Thompson of Washington died.
Prosecutors said the two men fought with the victim and then later confronted him on a bus. According to prosecutors, Atchison pulled out a handgun and shot Thompson twice as other passengers fled.
The two were arrested five days later in Orlando, Fla.
Telephone messages left for attorneys for the two men were not immediately returned Friday evening.
