FALLS CHURCH, Va. (CBSDC) – Police have made an arrest in a more than two-year-old murder case of a Falls Church teenager killed in June 2010.
Julio Miguel Blanco-Garcia of Falls Church, 27, was arrested and charged Thursday with the June 27 murder of 19-year-old Vanessa Pham.
U.S. Marshals located Garcia at a house under construction in the Town of Vienna near the intersection of Glyndon St. and Locust St. shortly after noon.
Detectives linked him to the homicide through analysis of forensic evidence collected from the murder scene.
Pham was found dead in a 2008 two-door Toyota after it crashed into a ditch off the south side of Arlington Boulevard.
Officers found her body when they responded to the scene of the accident in the 2900 block of Gallows Road, and noticed trauma to her upper body that was not consistent with the crash.
Detectives learned that Pham had visited a business in the Fairfax Plaza Shopping Center in the 2900 block of Gallows Road around 3 p.m. where she did not appear to be in distress.
In June of this year, police asked the public to view video surveillance showing Pham’s car in the shopping center moments before the crash, in case they recognized any of the cars behind hers as she passed through the parking lot.
