FORT WASHINGTON (CBSDC) — A middle school teacher in Fort Washington is facing charges he repeatedly sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl over a 10-month span.
Prince George’s County Police say 48-year-old Garnold Maurice King, a former social studies teacher at Isaac Gourdine Middle School, is alleged to have assaulted the girl between September 2011 and June 2012.
The girl’s mother contacted police after the teen told her of the assaults. Police say the girl claims the assaults occurred both on and off school property.
Prince George’s County Public Schools say King was immediately removed from school once they learned of the allegations. He is currently on administrative leave pending the outcome of a criminal and administrative investigations.
King, who was arrested on Dec. 6, was assigned to teach at Thurgood G. Marshall Middle School in Temple Hills this school year.
King is facing charges of second, third, and fourth degree sex offenses as well as second degree assault and two counts of sex abuse of a minor.
Police say King was released from custody on a $125,000 bond.
