OXON HILL, Md. (CBSDC) — A man is in serious condition after being shot during a brazen armored truck robbery Tuesday afternoon in Oxon Hill.
Police say three or four men approached the Loomis employee in the parking lot near a Sav-A-Lot store in the 6300 block of Livingston Road around 1 p.m.. A confrontation ensued at which point one of the men shot the guard.
A witness in the grocery store says he heard a pop and saw the guard run into the store a short time later. The guard was bleeding and had a hole in his face.
The man has been taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.
The driver of the truck was not injured during the robbery.
Prince George’s Police say the robbers made off with some property, but did not elaborate. Authorities also believe the heist was a calculated, well organized attack.
Police are searching for a silver sedan in connection with the robbery.
