STERLING, Va. (CBSDC) — A person struck by a car early Monday morning in Sterling, Va. has died.

The person was struck around 4 a.m. Monday near the intersection of Leesburg Pike (Route 7) and Palisades Parkway, Loudoun County Sheriff’s officials confirm. The victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the person remained on the scene.

It is not clear whether the foggy conditions were a factor in the accident.

The victim has not been identified.

One westbound lane of the Leesburg Pike is getting by as police investigate.
