WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – D.C. Police are looking for a man who shot and killed a woman and injured a girl as they boarded a Metrobus in Southeast D.C. Sunday evening.

The shooting occurred at the 18th Street and Minnesota Avenue bus stop around 5:30 p.m., D.C. Police say. The woman, who was in her 20s, was shot several times and died at the scene.

The toddler girl — believed to be the woman’s daughter — was transported to Children’s Hospital. Her condition is unknown.

The Metrobus driver took off when the shooting began, but police stopped the bus a block away.

An empty stroller with bullet shell markings remain at the scene, WNEW’s Cameron Thompson reports.

The B2 Metrobus was en route to Mount Rainier at the time of the incident, a Metro spokesperson says.
