BALTIMORE (CBSDC) — Two blocks in Baltimore take their Christmas decorations seriously… very seriously.
The houses along 34th Street in Hamden are sparkling with holiday lights displays that can only be summed up as ‘very Baltimore.’
One house pays homage to a local brew, Natty Boh, while another features a Christmas tree made entirely of hub caps. Some lights are strung across the street, down electric poles and even form a multicolor palm tree.
The independent tradition dates back 65 years. Although the elaborate displays send electric bill soaring, residents say they do not want donations from visitors. They do it for the love of Christmas.
The display is open nightly from dusk until 11 p.m. through Jan. 1.
