WASHINGTON (CBSDC) - A car has crashed into a McDonald’s restaurant in Adam’s Morgan jamming up traffic and sending two to a hospital.

A Subaru wagon crashed into the McDonald’s located in the 2400 block of 18th Street Northwest around 2:40 p.m. on Friday.

The male driver and a female customer inside the store at the time of the crash were injured. The driver was taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The customer was also taken to a local hospital where she is being treated for minor injuries.

The intersection of 18th St. and Columbia Rd. is partially blocked off to traffic while crews clean up and reinforce the building.

A saw horse has been set up in the street for DC fire to do makeshift construction, as they plug the hole left in the building from the vehicle with wood.

Traffic is now moving along one lane in both directions of Columbia Rd.

Metro officials say the number 42 Bus is still on its regular route, however, L2 & 90 are still detouring.
