BETHESDA, Md. (CBSDC) — An overturned tractor trailer carrying pineapples and other fruit is snarling traffic on the outer loop of the Capital Beltway in Bethesda.
The truck carrying nearly 70,000 pounds of produce overturned around 2 a.m. Thursday near the I-270 split, blocking the right lane of the roadway.
Workers have transferred the cargo into another truck, but crews are waiting for traffic to die down before closing additional lanes to upright the trailer and finalize cleanup.
Traffic is slowly getting by the accident to the left, though officials have urged drivers to find alternate routes.
