WASHINGTON — Metro plans to close five stations on the red line for weekend work.
Metro says the Takoma, Silver Spring, Forest Glen, Wheaton and Glenmont stations will close Friday at 10 p.m. and will remain closed through Sunday. Metro says it will provide free shuttle buses for customers traveling through the work zone. Customers using the buses should allow up to an hour of additional travel time.
In addition, Metro says that shuttle buses will replace green line trains between Archives and Waterfront. And there will be no yellow line service between Fort Totten and Archives. Yellow line trains will operate via the blue line between Huntington and Eastern Market stations.
Trains will also share a single track on portions of the orange and blue lines, causing delays of 15 minutes.
