Police Hit Streets of Lewisdale to Alert Community of Gang Murder

LEWISDALE, Va. (CBSDC) – Police handed out flyers in Lewisdale Wednesday evening to inform members of the community of a gang related shooting that resulted in the death of a teenager and to offer a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
Homicide detectives were also on the scene speaking with members of the community where 14-year-old Eliezer Benjamin Reyes was shot and killed just hours earlier.
Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 2200 block of Sheridan St. in Lewisdale around 12:15 a.m. on Wednesday.
They discovered two victims suffering from gunshot wounds when they arrived.
The first victim, an adult male, was taken to a local hospital where he is in stable condition.
The second victim, Reyes of Lewisdale, was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
An investigation revealed the two victims were shot in a drive-by shooting as they were walking down the street with two others.
Two members of the group walking down the street with them at the time of the incident are documented gang members, leading police to believe the shooting was gang related.
