WASHINGTON (CBSDC) - A house fire in Northwest turned fatal for one person Tuesday night and has firefighters scrambling to identify the body.
The D.C. Fire Department responded to a call of a burning home in the 1800 block of 1st Street NW around 7:15 p.m.
When firefighters were conducting a preliminary investigation, they discovered a body on the first floor of the two-story row home.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was also called to the scene to conduct an investigation.
The fire was extinguished and an investigation into the identity of the body is ongoing.
