GLEN BURNIE, Md. (CBSDC) - Maryland State Police continue to search for the driver who hit and killed a Laurel man early Saturday in an apparent hit and run incident.
Police released a description of a suspect vehicle they believe was involved in the death of 71-year-old Henry Smith, who was struck and killed while walking along I-295 near I-695 in Glen Burnie on Dec. 1.
The driver, who struck Smith and left the scene, was reportedly driving a light blue Toyota car, which had a left headlight out and the front bumper dragging on the ground. Immediately following the incident, the car was traveling north on I-295 with its flashers on and exited onto Waterview Ave., in the Westport are of Baltimore, according to police.
State Police received a call just before 3:00 a.m. on Saturday reporting a person walking in the roadway. When a trooper responded, he found Smith lying dead in the fast lane of I-295.
Anyone who may have information on the owner or location of the vehicle, or may have seen it along I-295 the night of the hit-and-run incident Saturday, is urged to contact Maryland State Police at (410) 761-5130.
