DUMFRIES, Va. (CBSDC) - The lockdown has been lifted for a Prince William County middle school following a shooting in a nearby neighborhood.

School officials locked down Graham Park Middle School in Dumfries shortly after a shooting occurred at nearby Graham Court before 6 p.m.

Police established a perimeter of the area to search for the suspects wanted in the shooting.

A basketball game being played in the school was not disrupted, but residents in the area were asked to remain indoors while police conducted the search.

Two victims were taken to a local hospital as a result of the shooting. The adult male victim, who was assaulted, is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries and the condition of the adult female victim, who was shot, is currently unknown.

Police say the shooting does not appear to be random.
