LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — An elementary school in Prince George’s County has been evacuated because of a fire.
Fire officials say the blaze at Gaywood Elementary School, located in the 6700 block of 97th Ave. in Lanham, began around 9:30 a.m. in the ceiling and roof above the boiler room. The flames were extinguished around 20 minutes later.
The school will remain closed for the remainder of Monday and classes have been moved to nearby Duvall High School.
Officials say nobody was injured in the fire.
A portion of the roof has been removed due to fire damage.
