SPRINGFIELD, Va. (CBSDC) — Dozens of car windows have been damaged in an apparent BB or pellet gun shooting spree in Fairfax County.

Police say the spree occurred over the past week in the Newington Forest and Terra Grande neighborhoods of Springfield. The majority of the damage took place in the early morning hours of Nov. 29.

At least one person was inside a car at the time it was shot, but police say the majority of vehicles were empty when they were fired upon.

Rear windows of minivans and sports utility vehicles are primarily being targeted in the rampage.

Authorities are searching for a silver Honda CRV in connection with the shootings.
