UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (CBSDC/AP) — Authorities in Prince George’s County say they’re investigating after discovering a body while putting out a fire at an apparently abandoned home in Upper Marlboro.
A fire department spokesman says authorities were called to the 15000 block of Buck Lane around 2:15 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a fire. It took firefighters about 45 minutes to knock down most of the blaze. Firefighters going through the building then discovered a body which was unidentifiable. An autopsy is planned to determine the person’s identity and cause of death.
Fire officials say nothing suspicious was found during the initial investigation of the fire. It is possible the home was being used by squatters or vagrants.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
