LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — The Dallas Cowboys have signed former Washington Redskins wide receiver Anthony Armstrong to bolster its ailing receiving corps.
Armstrong worked out for the Cowboys last week.
Dallas’ injured receivers include Miles Austin, who was hurt on Thanksgiving, and Kevin Ogletree (concussion).
Washington attempted reach a trade that would have sent him to the Miami Dolphins at the end of training camp this season, but ultimately released him after a deal was unable to be reached. He signed with Miami as a free agent a short time later.
The 29-year-old was among the team’s leading receivers in 2010, but fell out of favor in Washington following a 2011 campaign slowed by injury.
Armstrong, who also had a cup of coffee with the Jacksonville Jaguars this season, will presumably make his return to D.C. when the Redskins host the Cowboys in the regular season finale on Dec. 30.
