GREAT FALLS, Md. (CBSDC) - A tourist visiting from Asia who was fighting for her life after being rescued from the Potomac River died Thursday.
Police said Karjia Jiang, 53, of China had been staying with relatives in the 9100 block of Sterling Montague Dr. in Great Falls.
Jiang told her family she was going for a walk in Great Falls National Park, but she never came back.
Police don’t know how or where she entered the water, but Montgomery County firefighters were able to successfully rescue her in the Mather Gorge area around 10 a.m.
She was taken to a hospital where she later died.
Detectives are classifying her death as undetermined at this time, however no foul play is suspected.
