WASHINGTON — Firefighters say a man has died in a blaze at a home in northwest Washington.
District of Columbia firefighters were called to the home on Webster Street on Wednesday and found a man’s body under a couch in one of the rooms.
Neighbors say the man who lived at the home had told them he planned to bake a turkey. Shortly after, they saw flames shooting from a first-floor window of the home about 11 a.m.
Investigators are looking into the possibility that he may have been cooking when the fire broke out.
Firefighters had some difficulty getting into the home because of hoarding conditions.
