ALEXANDRIA, Va. (CBSDC) — Alexandria is studying the visual impacts of building a new Metrorail station in the Potomac Yard area with balloon tests at proposed sites over the next several weeks.
The city said Monday that it will conduct balloon testing at three possible sites for a Potomac Yard Metro station. The tests will run through Dec. 7.
During the tests, the city says special balloons will be used at each site for photographs and video images. City officials warn the balloons may be visible above the George Washington Memorial Parkway for more than an hour at a time when tests are conducted.
The city says motorists are not allowed to stop along the parkway to watch.
