SILVER SPRING, Md. (CBSDC) – We all know Thanksgiving – the day for celebrating family and friends over the carving of a turkey – is on Thursday, but that doesn’t stop Montgomery County from bringing a live Thanksgiving parade directly to the community five whole days before.
Montgomery County’s 15th Annual Thanksgiving Parade marches through downtown Silver Spring on Saturday, Nov. 17 starting at 10:00 a.m.
The parade begins near Ellsworth Dr. and Fenton St., then proceeds to Georgia Ave., continues south and concludes at Silver Spring Ave.
Festivities will include live performances from the Maryland Youth Ballet, the Washington Redskins and Bowie State marching bands, as well as Latin dance groups. You can also expect to see beauty pageant contestants, fire engines and rescue animals from Appalachian Great Pyrenees Rescue and Humane Society.
Maryland Youth Ballet will present “The Nutcracker” and Round House Theater will perform a sword fight from its upcoming production of “Young Robin Hood.”
The event will be televised live the day of and re-run on Thanksgiving Day.
