ASHBURN, VA (CBSDC)–The Redskins practiced today as they come off their bye week and prepare for the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday and could have some key pieces back.

Pierre Garçon (toe) & Brandon Meriweather (knee) were limited in practice today.

“He practiced, so that’s a good sign,”  Redskins Head Coach Mike Shanahan said on Garçon.  “Hopefully there’s no setback and he keeps on progressing.”

Shanahan said Meriweather “he looked good today”.

Both players could play Sunday.

Trent Williams is sore and Shanahan would only say it’s his whole body that’s sore, but he fully practiced.

The Redskins have two weeks from yesterday to activate tackle Jammal Brown (hip) off the PUP list.  Shanahan says he “got good work in” today and there has been no setback.  They’ll see how he does tomorrow when he practices in pads.

Because it’s the start of the second half of the season, the Redskins elected new captains to go along with Trent Williams, London Fletcher & Lorenzo Alexander.  Robert Griffin III, Barry Cofield & Stephen Bowen were named captains to go along with the others.

“I think the playoffs are a realistic goal for us,” Griffin III said today.

But Griffin III realizes what it will take to make the playoffs and that starts Sunday.

“We have to take care of what we control,”  Griffin III said.  “Philly’s the only thing on our minds.”

Griffin III went away for the bye week, but would not say where he went, but did say he was “hungry” to get back going.

Listen here to what Mike Shanahan & Robert Griffin III had to say following practice today.
