WASHINGTON (CBSDC) - Under Armour has unveiled the Maryland Terrapins sleek, stealthy new uniforms which can only be summed up by the phrase: Black Ops.
The new unis look hard, but wear flexible for the players, with a color scheme that’s altered based on the distance between you and the uniform itself.
From 500 feet, the Black Ops uniform emits the black and taxi-yellow color scheme, and from 50 feet fans will notice the same taxi-yellow pattern outlined in the jersey numbers.
But to make out the distinct Maryland flag pattern on the shoulders of the jersey and the custom helmets, you really have to be standing next to the referee – this unique third level of the uniform can only be seen from within five feet.
Under Armour says the new look was inspired by the Terps’ 2011 PRIDE uniforms that prominently featured the Maryland state flag, adding that the Black Ops version makes a more discreet statement.
Overall, that same statement evokes the silent strength of the military’s elite – the concept reflective of the shadow-like stealth of military black operations.
