WHITE OAK, Md. (CBSDC) - A state trooper was injured while trying to stop a runaway stolen car during a high-speed puruit that stretched from D.C. to the opposite end of Prince George’s County.
Maryland State Police say the pursuit of a man driving a stolen Honda began in D.C. around 11:30 p.m. and lead them on a drawn-out chase through Prince George’s County.
One officer was injured during the chase when the suspect crashed into him as he attempted to deploy stop sticks along Route 1 near an Ikea just north of the Beltway in College Park.
The chase finally ended near Powder Mill Road in the White Oak area of Silver Spring. The suspect attempted to bail out from the car in the driveway of someone’s home on Blossom Lane, but was caught by police in a foot chase.
The injured state trooper was taken to a hospital where he is being treated with non-life-threatening injuries.
