GAITHERSBURG, Va. (CBSDC) - Police would like your help identifying a suspect caught on surveillance robbing a restaurant in Gaithersburg.
Montgomery County police say an armed robbery occurred on Oct. 21 at a Chipotle located at 564 North Frederick Ave. in Gaithersburg at about 10:43 p.m.
An investigation revealed the suspect entered the rear door of the business as an employee was disposing of trash, then displayed a handgun and forced the employees into an office.
The suspect then ordered the manager of the restaurant to open the safe and removed an undisclosed amount of cash.
The suspect fled on foot towards Montgomery County fairgrounds.
Police describe the suspect as a black male, approximately 6’1” to 6’3” tall, weighing approximately 250 to 270 pounds, and wearing a plaid shirt and dark pants. He had a white covering over his face.
Detectives released a surveillance video of the robbery Friday in hopes someone see it and can identify the suspect.
