ALEXANDRIA, Va. (CBSDC) - Jeff Loughridge of Alexandria just turned 53. He says he’s always been healthy, and rarely ever called in sick at work.
But when he went to the hospital for gall stones about a month ago, doctors said he was severely anemic. Further testing showed a tumor on his large intestine.
Jeff is now battling stage 4 colon cancer, and is a big advocate for screening colonoscopies.
On Saturday, Nov. 10, hundreds of runners are expected to attend “Get Your Rear in Gear 5K Run/Walk,” as well as “Tony Snow Mile for a Miracle” to raise funds and awareness for colon cancer prevention.
“Tony Snow Mile for a Miracle” is named for former White House press secretary Tony Snow, who died of colon cancer in 2008 at the age of 53.
