WASHINGTON (CBSDC) - A heavily traveled intersection near Anacostia Freeway will be closed this week after rush hour for repaving.

The District Department of Transportation will close the intersection of Good Hope Road and Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, SE, overnight for milling and repaving beginning Monday, Nov. 5 and ending Thursday, Nov. 8.

The work will begin at 8:00 p.m. each night and wrap up around 5:00 a.m. the next morning.

DDOT says detours will be in place to guide traffic in and out of Anacostia.

Detours:

• Motorists traveling northbound on MLK Ave. will be detoured onto W Street, SE, and then to 13^th Street, SE to access Good Hope Road east of the intersection closure.

• If you’re traveling westbound on Good Hope Road, SE, you will be detoured via 14^th Street, SE, to U Street, SE, to access MLK Ave. south of the intersection closure.

• Motorists traveling southbound on 11^th Street, SE, to Anacostia will be detoured onto the recently opened ramp to southbound I-295, then to Howard Rd., SE, to access MLK Ave.

• If you’re trying to access Anacostia from northbound I-295, you will be detoured to Firth Sterling Ave., SE (Exit 3A), onto Howard Rd., SE to MLK Ave.
