Waldorf, Md. (CBSDC) - A barricade situation in Charles County that forced four schools to lockdown is over and a man is in custody.
Police had set up a barricade outside a home in the 1000 block of St. Paul’s Drive in Waldorf after a man inside threatened suicide.
Police determined the man was armed, prompting them to shut down parts of St. Paul’s Drive and Piney Church Road and lockdown four area schools.
Students at Maurice J McDonough High School, Mary B. Neal Elementary School, Benjamin Stoddert Middle School and Turner Elementary School were not permitted to leave without the presence of a parent.
Buses were held in the parking lots and students who typically walk home were held on school grounds.
The unidentified suspect is now in custody and is being given a medical evaluation, according to police.
