WASHINGTON — Prosecutors are seeking a 6-day prison sentence for former D.C. Council Chairman Kwame Brown.
Brown pleaded guilty in June to federal bank fraud and a misdemeanor campaign finance violation. His plea agreement called for a sentence of up to 6 months.
Prosecutors filed a sentencing memorandum Thursday requesting a 6-day sentence, to be served on the weekends, followed by three years of supervised release.
Prosecutors say that although his crime was serious, he deserves credit for accepting responsibility and for cooperating with law enforcement.
Brown’s conviction is part of an ongoing federal investigation into corruption in the District of Columbia government.
