ANNAPOLIS, Md. (CBSDC) - A worker for a tree removal contractor was killed Wednesday afternoon in Anne Arundel County.
Fire officials tell All News 99.1 the incident took place at 1600 Homewood Drive in Annapolis just before 1 p.m. The worker — said to be a man in his 40′s or 50′s — was part of a crew taking down trees following Superstorm Sandy.
Police say the man was pronounced dead on the scene.
They would not say officially whether the death could be attributed to storm-related causes, but neighbors told WNEW there’s no question.
“There’s no doubt,” one neighbor said. “The tree was tilted because of the storm, the winds and the rain. The ground was soft.”
There were five storm-related deaths in the D.C. area in the last several days. Three in Maryland and two others in Virginia.
