PASADENA, Md. (CBSDC/AP) — A neighbor says the man killed when a tree fell on his Pasadena home during superstorm Sandy was a 74-year-old retired engineer.
Neighbor John Brown identified the victim as Donald Cannata Sr. Property records show that Cannata was the owner of the one-story brick ranch-style house.
The tree fell directly across the left side of the house, next to a chimney. Brown says the tree fell on the kitchen and dining room area.
He says Cannata was “a pleasant guy. Friendly, nice, sociable. Would help you out any way he could.”
Fire officials said the victim was trapped after the tree fell Monday night and died at the scene.
The death was the second in Maryland related to the storm. A woman also died in a car accident in Germantown.
