REISTERSTOWN, Md (CBSDC) - The death of a woman killed in a Montgomery County crash has been linked to the effects of Hurricane Sandy.
The state health department attributed the crash to weather-related causes, but police say other caused may have also contributed to the accident.
Health Secretary Joshua Sharfstein says the medical examiner confirmed the death was storm-related after the woman was killed when her car skidded on a wet road.
Cpl. Paul Starks specified that while the weather may have caused the accident, police have not made a determination or ruled out other factors, citing that it was raining in Germantown when the crash occurred just a little after 11:30 a.m. Monday, and the road was wet.
The accident occurred when a car crossed the center line and hit another car, killing its driver.
Police have identified the victim as Mai Ai Lam-Phan, 66, of Clarksburg. The driver and passenger of the other car were injured.
