WASHINGTON (CBSDC/AP) — It’ll be much more expensive to catch a cab in D.C. over the next day.
Starting at noon Monday, taxicabs that originate in Washington are authorized to add an emergency flat rate of $15 per trip because of Hurricane Sandy.
The price is supposed to expire at noon Tuesday, unless officials cancel it earlier. It may also be extended beyond that, if considered necessary.
Officials say drivers must inform passengers entering their cabs of the fee and explain it.
