RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — One of Republican Mitt Romney’s three Sunday political rallies in the closing days of his close and critical race with President Barack Obama has already fallen victim to approaching Hurricane Sandy.
Romney has canceled his Sunday night rally in Virginia Beach, the last of his triple-dip into the battleground state he needs to win to beat Obama. Spokesman Curt Cashour says two other stops in Prince William County and in Richmond are still on.
Sandy’s current track also makes Obama’s planned campaign stop Monday in Prince William County with former President Bill Clinton doubtful. Sandy, projected to hit land in the Mid-Atlantic, is forecast to deliver fierce winds and rain in the region then.
Obama campaign officials say they’re monitoring the storm and assessing Monday’s plans.
