WASHINGTON — A Virginia man is due in court to face new charges in a shooting inside the headquarters of a conservative Christian lobbying group.

Floyd Lee Corkins II was charged in a new indictment this week with committing an act of terrorism and other offenses. He’ll be in Washington’s federal court on Friday to answer to the new charges.

Corkins, who had volunteered at a community center for gay and lesbian people, is accused of shooting and wounding a security guard at the Family Research Council headquarters in downtown Washington.

The organization staunchly opposes gay marriage and abortion rights.

Corkins has already entered a not-guilty plea to the first set of charges he faced.
