WASHINGTON (CBSDC/AP) — An accident involving a car and a tractor-trailer on northbound Interstate 95 in Virginia’s Stafford County is leading to delays.
Authorities say it appears that a driver trying to avoid a deer hit a tractor trailer around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. The trailer jackknifed and spilled 150 gallons of diesel fuel. A hazardous materials team was called in to clean up the highway.
All lanes of traffic were open to as of 6 a.m. Wednesday.
Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller said in a statement that 24-year-old Ahmed Mohammed of Falls Church, Va., was cited for reckless driving. Mohammed and two passengers, a 23-year-old female and 20-year-old male, were taken to the hospital.
The tractor trailer driver as not injured.
