MANASSAS, Va. (CBSDC) - A California man is in jail after attempting to illegally transport marijuana into Prince William County.

Evan James Polk, 28, of Truckee, Ca., was arrested after an elaborate sting operation which involved cooperation between police in Prince William County and the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office in California.

Police discovered Polk was shipping marijuana in from his home state for distribution to the Manassas area, and undercover officials arranged him to fly into Prince William County for a drug transaction.

He was arrested upon his arrival on Thursday, Oct. 18.

The arrest helped wrap an ongoing investigation into marijuana distribution in the area of Liberia Ave. and Signal Hill Road in Manassas.

Polk was charged with three counts of possession with intent to distribute marijuana and is currently being held without bond.
