ASHBURN, Va. (CBSDC) — The Washington Redskins were in a decidedly upbeat mood during as they opened their locker room to the media.
The team could be getting some much needed help in the secondary just in time for their first NFC East game of the season.
Cornerback Cedric Griffin (hamstring) could be back against the New York Giants after missing the last three games.
Griffin says he’s “pretty confident, for sure” that he will be able to go Sunday in New York. The cornerback does not think he’ll be limited in practice, but will make his return with caution..
Long-snapper Nick Sundberg says his cast was removed last Wednesday and will be re-evaluated next week. If he passes all his tests on Monday, he can resume practicing on Wednesday. Sundberg, who broke his arm in Week 2 against the St. Louis Rams, says this is the longest he’s ever gone without snapping.
Linebacker Brian Orakpo is already on injured reserve and out for the season. Orakpo was also injured in St. Louis and has a four-to-six month recovery time following surgery to repair a torn pectoral muscle. Orakpo is walking around without a sling.
