WASHINGTON (CBSDC/AP) — Motorists in the Mid-Atlantic region are paying a penny less at the pump this week.
AAA Mid-Atlantic said Sunday in a weekly report that the average price of a gallon of regular gas in the D.C. metro area is $3.73 this week. That’s compared to $3.74 a week ago.
In a state-by-state comparison, the average cost of gas in Virginia is the lowest in the region where drivers pay $3.59 at the pump. Maryland drivers are paying $3.69 while motorists in the District are shelling out an average of $3.84.
Still, motorists in the region are paying more than a year ago. At this time last year drivers were paying $3.39 per gallon.
The price of gas in the region is six cents less than the national average. AAA says gas prices are expected to fall for the remainder of the year.
