LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — Thousands are walking 60 miles to raise awareness and money for breast cancer research with the hope of finding a cure this weekend in Washington.
The annual Susan G. Komen 3-Day event begins Friday and concludes with a closing ceremony Sunday afternoon.
Event organizers are encouraging people to come out a support the walkers who have each raised at least $2,300 to participate. Spectators are welcome to bring banners, signs, music and anything else to make the participants smile is welcome.
A number of cheering stations have been erected for the public to encourage the walkers.
