WASHINGTON — The National Law Enforcement Museum being developed in Washington is getting a $15 million boost from Motorola Solutions Inc.

The Schaumburg, Ill.-based communications technology company is announcing one of the museum’s largest gifts Thursday. It includes $10 million from Motorola Solutions Foundation and $5 million in products and services.

The museum will have simulators, including a 911 call center to experience being a dispatcher. Artifacts include items from longtime FBI director J. Edgar Hoover and Al Capone’s bulletproof vest.

A groundbreaking was held in 2010 to open the museum in 2013. But officials say the project was delayed due to fundraising and construction challenges. It’s now slated to open in 2015.

Chairman Craig Floyd says the gift pushes the project toward completion, having raised $58 million of $80 million needed.
