WASHINGTON (CBSDC) — A man is facing a state weapons charge for attempting to bring a loaded gun onto a flight at Ronald Reagan National Airport.
TSA officials say they discovered the 9mm semi-automatic handgun on Oct. 5 as the man’s carry-on bag passed through a x-ray machine at a security checkpoint.
The Dallas-bound passenger did not have a concealed weapons permit and is facing a state misdemeanor weapons charge.
Security officials allowed the man to continue on his trip after confiscating the gun, ammunition and a magazine.
Airport operations were not affected by the incident.
The TSA says some weapons may be transported in checked baggage when properly packed. Passengers should check with their airline for specific procedures.
