LANDOVER, Md. (CBSDC) — The Washington Redskins lost the game and potentially more Sunday afternoon as Robert Griffin III was shaken up during a 24-17 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
Griffin exited the game with a mild concussion in the third quarter after taking a should-to-helmet hit from Falcons linebacker Sean Weatherspoon on a third and goal scramble.
He was first examined in a closet-like structure on the Washington sidelines before being taken to the locker room.
Kirk Cousins, who was taken 100 draft picks after Griffin, struggle in his first regular season action.

The fourth-round selection from Michigan State was was sacked and finished 5-of-8 for 111 yards, but did hit Santana Moss for a 77-yard touchdown that briefly gave the Redskins the lead. The score accounted for
However, Atlanta scored the game’s final 10 points to retain their unblemished record and move to 5-0 for the first time in franchise history.
Griffin was 10-of-15 for 91 yards before the injury, which ironically came in a game where he had just one rushing attempt.
Meanwhile, Alfred Morris’ 115 yards bested his previous career-high set last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The rookie rusher averaged 6.4 yards per carry on 18 touches.
Fred Davis led the Redskins receiving effort with five catches for 54 yards.
A 28-yard Ryan Kerrigan interception return for a touchdown were the only first half points for Washington. The second-year linebacker from Purdue jumped in front of a Matt Ryan pass and ran unopposed into the end zone, before jumping into the stands in a capital rendition of the Lambeau Leap.
Also of note, kicking woes continued to plague Washington as Billy Cundiff pushed a 31-yard attempt wide right in the second quarter. He missed his first three attempts in Tampa last weekend before successfully connecting on the game winner.
Cundiff is now 6-of-11 on attempts this season.
