LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — The U.S. unemployment rate has fallen to its lowest rate since January 2009.
Data released by the Labor Department Friday morning shows the unemployment rate at 7.8 percent, roughly the same number when Barack Obama took office.
The government says 114,000 jobs were created in September, matching most economists’ forecasts. However, the unemployment rate decline was greater than expected.
The Labor Department also says more jobs were created in August than originally reported.
