WASHINGTON (CBSDC) — A number of roads will be closed in the District over the Columbus Day weekend due to The Taste of DC.

Large crowds are expected for the annual food festival and officials say public transportation is the best way to travel.

The Taste of DC runs through Monday.

The impacted streets will be closed to motorists and parking will not be permitted at any time.

Beginning Friday at 7 p.m. the following roads will be closed:

• Pennsylvania Avenue, NW will be closed from 9th Street to 14th Street, NW
• 10th Street, NW will be closed from E Street to Constitution Avenue, NW
• 11th Street, NW will be closed from E Street to Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
• 12th Street, NW will be closed from E Street to Constitution Avenue, NW
• 13th Street, NW will be closed from E Street to Pennsylvania Avenue, NW

The roads will remain closed through Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 3 a.m.

Motorists driving near the area are urged to use extreme caution due to heavy pedestrian traffic.
