ASHBURN, Va. (CBSDC) — Preparations for this weekend’s showdown with the undefeated Atlanta Falcons continued Thursday at Redskins Park.
Wide receiver Pierre Garçon gave a positive update on a nagging foot injury. He was able to play last weekend for the first time since sustaining the injury in the Week 1 victory over the New Orleans Saints.
“Getting better every day,” Garçon says. “It’s going to take some time to feel back like my old self I was in training camp, but it’s a process, it’s a battle, but it’s coming along.”
The Redskins will need Garçon on Sunday since they are playing the number three scoring offense in the NFL and it could be an offensive shootout.
“They’ve got the hottest quarterback in the [NFL],” said Redskins defensive coordinator Jim Haslett. “A really good running, two explosive wide receivers… maybe the greatest tight end that ever played.”
Haslett added: “This is a great football team we’re playing.”
Newly acquired running back Ryan Grant is hoping to make his Redskins debut this Sunday after landing on the team’s inactive list against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
“I felt like I could’ve contributed last week,” said Grant. “Me being deactivated had more to do with some of the other guys they needed up.”
Should he dress this Sunday, the former Green Bay Packers standout says he’ll be ready.
“I feel pretty comfortable,” Grant said. “I picked things up pretty fast. I think it’s gone pretty smooth.”
