Despite being exhausted and smelling like a saloon, Nat’s play by play voice Dave Jageler woke up early this morning and joined the Junks to talk about clinching the National League East. “It was a nice night, I would probably still be sleeping if I hadn’t agreed to join you guys,” he joked.

Jageler said he’s seen 1,000 celebrations like last night’s on TV, but he’s never been part of one. The Nats celebrated “like little kids”, he said.

Having clinched the division, the Junks are looking ahead to postseason. Lurch asked Dave if he has any concerns about the team going into the playoffs. While Dave is confident, he did express concern that the team has been “playing .500 ball for the past two weeks.” Although, he tempered his concern by saying that history tells us it doesn’t really matter how hot a team is in the last couple weeks of the season.

Jageler had a tough time picking a team MVP. He likes Desmond’s slugging, Harper’s run scoring ability, Zimmerman’s strong second half of the season, and LaRoche’s consistency.

While Jageler admitted that “chemistry was always an issue” on past Nats teams, he credits Jason Werth with changing the clubhouse’s attitude.

Dave Jageler will be appearing on The Fan throughout the Nationals postseason run. So stay tuned for more insight from the Nats play by play man.
