WASHINGTON (CBSDC) — A man was struck and killed by an out of control car as he walked near the Verizon Center Monday morning.
Authorities believe the driver of the vehicle suffered a medical emergency that caused her a car veer off the road and strike the man. The car, which had New York tags, jumped the curb, struck a tree and eventually came to rest with significant damage.
The female driver was taken to the hospital where her condition is unknown.
6th Street between D and E Streets was closed for several hours while police investigated the crash, but has since reopened.
The identity of the victim, who is in his 60′s, was not immediately available.
