WASHINGTON (CBSDC) - A suspect is in custody after a fatal overnight stabbing in the District.

Metropolitan Police responded to a call in the 500 block of 50th Place around 11:05 p.m Thursday after receiving a report of an aggravated assault, according to 9News Now.

When officers arrive on the scene they discovered an unconscious man suffering from a stab wound to the abdomen. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly thereafter.

The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
